PAULSON’S EXPANDS IN FARMINGTON HILLS WITH NEW LAB

When the owners of Paulson’s Audio & Visual decided to expand their Farmington Hills business, one decision came easily.
“There was no question wanted to expand in Farmington Hills,” said Dan Paulson, company vice president. In addition to being the center of the company’s service area, he added, “All of us Paulsons reside here, we were born and raised here. Our store has been located here since day one.”
In addition to a showroom at 37670 W. 12 Mile Rd., the company has long owned a 1500-square-foot warehouse, also in Farmington Hills. Earlier this year, Paulson’s acquired a 7500-square-foot building located just across the street.
Paulson said operations, installation, and scheduling offices will occupy the front of the building. But what’s going into the back of the warehouse will change the way the company handles installations.
That’s especially important in new construction, because of the small window between when construction is finished and technology installation. Instead of having a technician in the home testing every component, that work will already be done. “The coolest part about it,” Paulson said, “is we’re setting up a lab. It gives us the ability to set up and test every product before it goes into the home.”
Paulson said the 24′ x 24′ room, set up to replicate conditions in a customer’s home, should be in full operation by mid-September.
“This lab is going to streamline our day-to-day operations immensely,” Paulson said. “The more we can do in-house versus their house, the better.”
